A Number of Hurt as Turbulence Hits A Delta Airlines Aircraft Landing at Sydney
Multiple passengers and crew have been injured when a Delta flight traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney was hit by rough air this past Friday.
The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at Sydney Airport, a company official stated. Four flight attendants were injured.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service stated they assessed five individuals, and transported three of them to hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised spinal discomfort and migraines. Those affected were between their 30s to 70s.
This marks the newest example of planes being hit by severe turbulence, with aviation specialists saying that shifting climate patterns is a major factor.
There were 245 passengers and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the representative added, stating that the plane arrived "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.
Emergency responders indicated they got a call just only 180 seconds prior to the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
